The Anti Mom

0

The intimidating first post…dum dum dummmmmm! Hello Blog World!

I am a self-proclaimed Anti Mom. When I tell people that, they look at me as if I have 13 heads, then look down at the pint size mini-me in my arms and give me the stink eye. But what exactly is an “Anti Mom”? Believe me, I am not a baby hater.  I love babies and I adore being a mom. But I Hate (yes with a capital H!) the mom stigma that adorns all women the second people find out they are pregnant. The stigma that all aspects of her life must change, she must get a mini-van, wear mom jeans and put stickers on the back windshield of  said mini-van for each member of the family.  That stigma haunted my already crazy dreams after I found out I was expecting. I didn’t want to turn into one of those moms who was consumed with everything baby and forget about the life I had built for myself. I wanted to incorporate my new baby into my already stable life and make it that much better. I want to show other women out there who may have struggled with the same “mom” stigma I did that there are other moms out there who raise their kids and still have time for a life.

Some might think that is selfish, but I don’t see it that way. Why you can’t have the best of both worlds?
