My Messy Moment

0

When I saw this ‘Messy Moment’ opportunity on the SITS Girls website, I had to share my own story. Till this day, my messy moment with my sister still cracks me up whenever I think of it.

Coincidentally, my sister and I were pregnant at the exact same time. Our due dates were 5 weeks apart – I don’t think we could have planned it better if we tried. Isn’t it every sisters/best friends dream to be pregnant at the same time? I have to say, it really was a lot of fun, especially for me. Knowing someone else close to me was going through the same things I were was very comforting. When our girls arrived, they became instant best friends. We bought matching outfits, matching toys, bows – everything. It was like having twins. My sister lives in the northeast, so when she made it back home to Florida for her first visit with my niece, we had grand plans to do any and everything.

At the time of her visit, the girls were 2 and 3 months old, so all the moms out there know that with babies that age, all they did was eat, sleep, poop, and repeat. One afternoon we took the girls out for a day of shopping with grandma. While at a local baby store picking up matching shoes (of course) for the upcoming double christening that we were having for the 2 best friends, my niece needed her stinky, poopy diaper changed. We told my sister to let us just quickly check out and we will all run out to the car and help her. I guess we weren’t moving fast enough for my niece.

As we were standing in line at the store, my sister noticed a little leak coming out of her diaper. In a split second as I turned to grab my keys, an explosion like no other occurred. My back was literally turned for a half of second and when I turned back around poop was shooting out of my nieces diaper like mustard colored silly string. The three of us were screaming and frantically grabbing wipes and paper towels to try and stop the flow.

While my mom and I were running around like chickens with our heads cut off, my niece was just sitting there in my sisters arms with a mischievous smile; like a little evil genius. We then noticed that there was not even a speck of poop anywhere on her or her clothing. We were in awe. With the amount of crap that flew out of that little girls diaper, how could it have not gotten on anything but the floor?! We were perplexed.

Then we looked at my sister.
