Chocolatey Bouquet For Valentine’s Day

0

If you are a procrastinator like I am, you waited till the very last minutes to do something sweet for your loved one. Well don’t worry, I have a quick gift idea to wow your Valentine….and all you need is about $7, 25 minutes, a trip to your grocery store and a microwave.

My valentine complains he needs to eat “healthy”, so I had to throw my cookie idea out the window. Instead – chocolate covered strawberries! Hey-they are healthy, especially if you use dark chocolate!

So here’s what you’ll need:

At the grocery store, they sell dipping chocolate that hardens up, I usually get Baker’s Dipping Chocolate. Publix sells bamboo skewers, but I usually keep a stock in the house for kabobs. You can use anything that is long. Publix also has great deals on strawberries, they usually sell a 16 oz container for less than $3.

Directions:

Wash your strawberries good and make sure they are nice and dry. Once your strawberries are clean, skewer 6-10 strawberries through the stems. I find it usefully to have a small vase around to put the skewers in once dipped. Make sure it will fit in your fridge. If you don’t have skewers or a small vase to fit in the fridge, line a plate with wax paper and use that instead.

skewered.

Once cleaned and skewered, the fun can begin. Follow the heating directions on the container of the chocolate dipping. When the chocolate is ready for dippage, grab a skewer and dunk it in. I like to dip and twist to make sure the chocolate doesn’t drip. Place the chocolately-strawberrily skewer in the vase (or on the plate) and continue doing the rest. If you are using a vase, make sure the strawberries don’t touch. Place it in the fridge and let harden for a good 15 minutes.

dip it.

If you want to be fancy-schmancy like me, I bought collapsable vases at the dollar store to make a Chocolate Covered Strawberry Flower Arrangement.

viola!

I don’t know how impressed your significant other will be with the faux-flower arrangement but who can refuse delectable treats like chocolate covered strawberries?!!? I know mine can’t. And myself for that matter!

Hope everyone has a Happy Valentine’s Day and hopefully you are doing something more fun than my uneventful evening!
