Homemade Makeup Remover

0

I recently told my husband that the 2 minutes I spend washing my face at night are one of my favorite times of the day. He may or may have not looked at me like I was a psycho, but I will be nice and not share what his favorite 2 minutes of the day are. With that being said, my face wash has to be the absolute tops.  6 years ago, my sister introduced me to Aveeno’s foaming face wash and its been love at first scrub ever since. Its calming, cleansing and relaxing as I get ready for bed. It hits all my qualifications for a perfect face wash: smells delicious, smooth foaminess, makes my skin fresh and smooth AND takes off my makeup. The last part is key. I used a ton of different products in my day to get my makeup off, some good, some not so good. Aveeno takes it all off without leaving ANYTHING! Not even remnants of your mascara or eye liner. Translation: no raccoon eyes!

Well, this has been an extremely hectic week and I have had barely any time do anything (hence the lack of posts) and I ran out of my face wash. I usually have a stock pile of toiletries for this specific reason but of course, that too is running low. I tried stretching what ever I had left with some water, but that was a piss poor attempt. So for the past 2 nights I have been going to sleep with raccoon eyes and ruining my pillow case. Wah.

So now that my face wash is totally empty and useless, I turned to my trusty friend, the Internet, and concocted a mixture that could help me with my raccoon problem. Clearly I was desperate for something so I mixed 2 kinds of cooking oils together, dabbed my cotton facial disk thingies in and started wiping my eyes and eye lashes. I felt like a greased up pan but looked in the mirror and it completely took off all my mascara and eyeshadow. I rinsed my eyes will cool water, then washed my face. That took off the excess oil, although I think I dabbed the cotton too much in the mixture, so be light on your dips! It did feel a bit weird and blurry for a few minutes, but it freaking worked!

So if you are caught in the same predicament as moi, or want to save a few pennies and make your own, just mix 2 tablespoons of Canola oil and 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil and you got yourself a top-notch makeup remover, ladies!
