Wine Review: Mommy’s Time Out

0

With my recent trip to Total Wine & More, I’ve stocked up on some quality bottles of Pinot Grigio. We shall see if they live up to the hype and up to this wino mom’s standards. BTW if you haven’t been to or know of a Total Wine, it’s like a candy store for adults. Aisles and aisles filled with wines, beers and liquors. Every possible brand of alcohol neatly organized and stocked to the fullest. It’s like the doors slide open and angels sing-kinda place.

As I combed the aisles, I found this beauty:

Obviously by the name alone I had to buy it and could not wait to pop that cork. When I did, coincidentally, I had quite the hectic day full of tantrums and disobedience. My husband couldn’t pour it fast enough. We chill our whites, so it was cool and crisp but the first couple sips had a bite to them. I guess I was expecting it to be smoother and fruitier, or it might have been my body adjusting to the wine going into my system after a weekend binge of vodka at my friends wedding. Who knows! After those few sips it went down pretty damn easily and I absolutely loved it!

I wouldn’t call myself a wine connoisseur by any means, but I have been drinking for a lonnnng time and my palate has definitely evolved from my early white zin days. And yes, I will admit that cute labels and a cheap price tag sometimes sway me! This label is really cute – any mom would understand and want to AT LEAST try this, once.

The garganega grapes are from the Veneto region in Italy. English translation: the white wine grapes the wine is made of are from the Venice area of Italy. Mommy’s Time Out is available in Pinot Grigio, Moscato and Rosso Primitivo. I am on the hunt for the rosso, worth a try! Plus the price tag is perfect – $7.99. Check your local retailers to see if they sell it, if not you can buy some online. Check out this site, it will track down who’s sells it closest to you.

So on a scale from 1 to drunk, I score this a hard buzz. Worth trying and worth buying again and again.

And how cute would this be as a hostess gift to a friend or for a new mom?!
