I do not hide my addiction to Trader Joe’s and frankly, I have an unhealthy obsession with going there. Lucky for us, the closest TJ’s is no more than 15 minutes away. We were trekking to Wellington (which is about a 45 minute trip) to do some TJ’s shopping and we couldn’t be happier with the newest location in Boca Raton. They really have such amazing deals and some of the best kept secrets that only TJ’s can offer up. I read on a blog that one of the items that was a must try at Trader Joe’s was their Mandarin Orange Chicken and how it is so much better than takeout! That is a HUGE statement right there, so I had to take it on myself to try it and see if it did surpass takeout.
Legit, this is far better than takeout! I absolutely prefer this over any orange or sweet and sour chicken dish from the local takeout joint. Hands down, pure deliciousness. Even my picky 3 year old likes it, that has to tell you something!
It is great for a night when you really don’t feel like cooking and want something to satisfy the family. To prepare this deliciously sweet and tangy mandarin chicken, place on a pan in the oven, bake and it crisps up perfectly. You then heat up the special mandarin orange glazy sauce and pour it over. I am literally drooling thinking about it, it is THAT good! Pair it with a side of white, brown or fried rice and it is a meal and a half.
This past trip, I grabbed a bag of Trader Joe’s Vegetable Fried Rice and it is the perfect accompaniment to the Mandarin Chicken! If you are a Trader Joe’s addict, like myself, or a newbie to the store, you must add this to your shopping list. It’s in the frozen food section.
