It’s the Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival recap bitches!
We hit up Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival on a busy Saturday. If anyone has been to Disney on a weekend knows how much fun that is. But besides the insane amount of crowds, I have to say we had an absolute fuckin blast! We started our journey in Brazil and the rest is a blur. I have no idea how much money we spent but I do know I ate and drank like an animal.
The weather turned out to be beautiful. Lately its been rainy and gross down here in FL but the skies opened up and there was a nice breeze kickin. Perfection. We spent 8 drunken hours in the park walking around and around sampling goodies from every country and drinking like fish. We tried out feijoada in Brazil, steak tacos in Mexico, empanadas in Argentina, pot stickers in Japan/China, ravioli & canolis in Italy and escargot in France. That is all I can remember. I tried out lots of beer and champagne (my fave) and ended the day with a massive hangover.
I mean, how can you not have fun when you are with good friends eating and drinking in the happiest place on earth? My only negative comment about the festival is the amount of money Disney sucks out of you. You pay for a ticket into the park, which runs close to $80 per person, then to sample each food and beverage is anywhere from $2.50-$12.00. That really adds up considering there are 20+ countries selling food and drinks. Then if you want any souvenirs, good luck with that shit. They really know how to get you for all you’re worth…especially when you’re drunk. Exhibit A: The Chinese hat.
My husband blew 16 bucks on this bad boy and still thinks it was a great decision.
Sooo conclusion – if you love Disney and need a weekend away and like spending butt loads of cash on yummy food and alcohol then this is the place for you.
If any Florida people (or non-Florida ones) have never been and are planning on it, I have a few tips on how to enjoy every minute:
1. Save your money. I’m sayin’ start saving your benjamin’s as far in advanced as you can! You have to pay for your ticket into the park, then for every tasting of food, beer, and wine . There are over 20 different countries so that adds up big time!
2. Wear comfy clothes. Sneakers are a must. In Florida, you never know what the weathers going to be like so be sure to bring a jacket and/or layer up just in case!
3. Pace yourself. We were in the park for 8 hours.. 8 straight hours. I was hung over by 7 pm. Having a massive headache with a zillion people around you, waiting for a bus and not arriving at your hotel for another hour and half later is no fun at all.
4. Save your money. Shits expensive!!!
Has anyone been or planning on going?
