It’s time for Hanukkah!
This will be my 2nd year celebrating Hanukkah. Every Jewish friend I have really doesn’t celebrate this holiday. They say its the less important holiday of all of them. Uhh what? What the hell??!? Isn’t every holiday important and further more how can you not want to celebrate a holiday that lets you give/get a present every night..for 8 days!?
I married a nice Jewish boy from Brooklyn, so I was excited when the holidays came around knowing that I would get 8 additional presents. Except I married the only Jewish boy that doesn’t celebrate Hanukkah. When I got pregnant, I thought it would be fun to start a tradition of celebrating at least the first night so we can let our daughter get familiar with her Jewish roots. So last year I made a nice dinner of matzo ball soup, stuffed cabbage and potato pancakes. It came out great, so of course we are doing it again this year. This time, I invited more family and we are going to let the kids play dreidal and exchange some gifts. I also have a few surprises up my sleeves for the menu…I will post pictures and all recipes! But now back to slaving in the kitchen!
Do you celebrate Hanukkah? Whats on the menu?
