For months, my husband and I have been dying to dine at Scarpetta in the Fontainebleau Hotel down in SoBe. We have literally been planning it for months and finally decided to go on my 30th birthday. Clearly we are huge fans of “Chopped” so of course we had to try famed Chef Scott Conant’s restaurant since it is practically in our back yard.
It was the most awesomely delicious night EVER! The restaurant was extremely posh, I mean, only the best for the Fontainebleau right? We sipped on cocktails, delicious homemade bread with mascarpone whipped butter and homemade caponata. With so many decadent items to choose from we started with braised short ribs with creamy risotto, crispy duck and a dish of spaghetti with a pomodoro sauce – totally simple and amazing, right down to the homemade pasta. Drool.
We were in foodie heaven. When we thought the night couldn’t get any better, we spot none other than Scott Conant walk by our table. We sat there bickering back and forth trying to figure out if it was in fact him. So we ask our waiter and he confirms our siting. How effing cool. What are the odds of going to a famous chef’s restaurant and actually seeing said chef. Unheard of, I tell you. Well that truly made our night. We were plotting how to approach him when we left if he was still sitting at the bar. Before we could decide our plan of attack, a tall gentleman approaches our table. Holy effing shit, it was him! I just sat there like a goon as he wished me a happy birthday and then him and my husband BS’d for a good 5 minutes. Clearly I have issues.
So I literally couldn’t have asked for a better birthday celebration – everything I could have ever wanted; vodka, delicious food, celeb sitings, chocolate cake, more vodka and great company. A perfect way to help forget that I turned 30.
