Love me some Nutella!
After this great Memorial Day weekend, my husband and I had our own little BBQ, just the 3 of us. While he was napping on the couch (lucky bastard), I thought I’d make a special dessert because after stuffing my face with yummy BBQ foods, I need something sweet!
I had just bought Nutella and always have at least 1 box of Pillsbury pie dough in the fridge. So I got a brilliant idea to make little Nutella & Banana Pie Pouches. How bad could those turn out right?! They are extremely easy to make and only 5 ingredients.
Nutella & Banana Pie Pouches
makes 4 mini pies
- Nutella
- 1 Banana, sliced
- 1 box refrigerated pie crusts, like Pillsbury
- 1 egg
- Sugar
Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees.
Roll out one of the sheets of dough and cut into quarters. If you want to get creative and cut circles or other shapes go for it! But I just kept them triangular.
Take a spoon and scoop a dollop of Nutella on one side of the triangle, slightly towards the middle and spread lightly.
Take 2-3 slices of banana and put them right on top of the Nutella.
Gently fold over the pie crust piece and pinch the sides closed. I had some room to fold the flap over, then scored the edges with a fork all the way around. Make sure they edges are closed tight, you don’t want the yummy filling to ooze out.
In a small bowl, lightly beat the egg. Brush the top of the mini pies with the egg then sprinkle each with some sugar. Place them on a baking pan lined with a silpat, aluminum foil, or lightly spray the pan with PAM.
Bake them till they are nice and golden brown. About 15-25 minutes. Keep an eye on them!
Eating them right when them come out is ideal! They are nice and ooey gooey warm. A scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream could be amazing too.
And now I can’t stop eating this giant jar of effing Nutella.
