I have been in what some of you might call an alcohol ‘detox’ the past couple months. Every time I drank, I got violently ill. It was like my body was rejecting vodka and wine. I was starting to panic…my bottle of Pinot Grigio at the end of a day full of temper tantrums is my saving grace! So needless to say I haven’t been my wine chugging self lately. Slowly but surely I got back into my old ways and the anti-alcohol virus that had invaded my body has left and I’m back, ready to drink!
What better way to initiate my newly found tolerance but with a game about WINE! ZinZig is a wine tasting AND trivia game. It was developed True Fabrications, who specializes in all things entertaining, wine, beer and liquor-and some pretty awesome gifts. ZinZig brings both your competitiveness and wine drinking skills together all on one board game. I busted it out this past weekend to kind of break up our normal monotony of waking up, going to the park, relaxing on the couch, making dinner then laying back to the couch. So my husband and I decided to mix it up a bit and get a little crazy with ZinZig!
The Jist
I opened the funky box to find a board, dice, some cute cork board pieces, trivia cards and 3 red bottle bags. I like where this is going! We have to choose 2-3 bottles of wine in the same family-so either reds or whites. We took it easy and just did two….this time. After examining the bottle and tasting each (aka drinking a big ol’glass), we put them in their respective pretty red bags and started the game!
ZinZig begins with each player picking a ‘wine maker’ (this will be your board piece) and a ‘winery’ (like owning property on the board). My husband and I immediately felt a Monopoly/Trivial Pursuit-type feel to the game and we were all about it! You roll the dice and move your way around the Tuscan-colored board while answering true/false, multiple choice (all geared around wine & wine making) and wine tasting-related questions to the bottles you have in the bags. You must answer as many questions right as you can because other players get the opportunity to trade/swap/steal your cards to get ahead of you. Once you collect all 4 designated cards – grapes, bottle, cork and barrel – you move one step closer to winning and getting to the ZinZig Winery!
Both our competitive sides came out guns-a-blazin’! We were drinking, having a great time and answering some pretty tough questions that we surprisingly knew some answers to! The only downfall was we wished we had more people playing with us. We already have a ZinZig party in the works with some friends and family for a game night in!

So if love wine and everything about it-this game is for you! It’s kinda like taking a tour of a Napa winery from the comfort of your home. You learn a hell of a lot about wine, the wine making process and you get to drink a lot of it while playing! We really had a “Zin-ful” good time!
