Did you get an overabundance of chocolate this Easter? Well my almost 2 year old got more chocolate than I think her little eyes have ever seen. 4 chocolate bunnies the size of her head, M&M’s up the wazoo, Peeps and chocolate eggs that could last a lifetime. There’s no way in hell I am letting her eat it all. So what can you do with all these goodies that doesn’t include you eating all of it? Here are some ideas to get rid of all that excess chocolate and candies:
1. Give it away!
So simple. But to who? If you work, bring some of it in to the office and give it to coworkers or leave it in the break room. By 3 pm, there is always someone looking for a sweet pick me up.
2. Make Fondue!
Host a fondue dessert night at your house. Melt down all your chocolate in a double boiler, add some milk, maybe some marshmallow fluff or Peeps, to make it like s’more. Use a variety of fruits and start dipping!
3. Make s’mores!
If fondue isn’t your thing or you’d just rather leave it up to the Melting Pot, try making some of these Peep S’Mores!
4. Chocolate Covered Bananas!
Want to get some fruit into your kids diets? Tempt them with chocolate covered bananas! You can put a stick in the banana, melt down the chocolate bunnies and eggs, dip the banana in chocolate or peanut butter and roll it in some M&M’s from the Easter Bunny and other candies you desire. Freeze and boom, you’re done! Get the kids involved to decorate as they please.
5. Positive Reinforcement!
Save those treats for some positive reinforcement. Don’t let the kids just pig out. If they go potty for the first time or do something great in school, space out the treats over a period of time. Lets face it, chocolate doesn’t go bad for a long, long time. I should know, I have some left over from last year that we ate, and it tasted great! HA!
