Go ahead on over there, I’ll wait…
OK – Now, you know why I love their products right?!
As a self-proclaimed wine-o, I was extremely excited when the great people at True Fabrications sent me over some of HOST’s newest and coolest products out in the market right now: the CHILL Cooling Pour Spout, the WHIRL Aerating Glass set, and the TILT MINI Variable Aerator. So at our latest and probably last dinner party for quite a while thanks to baby #2, we decided to go out with a bang! Bottles of wine for everyone (minus me, boo hoo )! What better place to test out these great wine gadgets.
We started with the CHILL. It’s a chilled/frozen gel-filled stick that you put in the freezer which is attached to a non-drip spout that gives you a chilled glass of vino with each pour. If you are drinking red, just put the CHILL in the freezer for 2 hours. If you are drinking white, just freeze for 15 minutes. But be sure to read the directions before you put it in the bottle…because we didn’t and had a huge party foul!
Just simply pour a glass out of the bottle, THEN insert the CHILL. Let it do it’s thing for a bit then start pouring. We started with a bottle of red and found that it didn’t get the wine that cold. I guess all our guests were expecting it to feel about 20 degrees colder. Since the bottle of red went quick, we popped the CHILL back in the freezer for another 15 minutes and tried it out with a bottle of white. If you are drinking white, be sure to chill it a couple hours before hand. It worked awesome with the white! Success!
On to the WHIRL…in the package you get 2 shatter-proof plastic stemless glasses with 3 built in ridges that act as aerators with each ‘whirl’ of the glass. Got 4 thumbs up with these glasses. Depending on how hard or light you whirl the glass, the patented ridges allow oxygen to aerate your glass of vino to perfection.
The TILT MINI, like the WHIRL, aerates your wine with each pour but the TILT MINI has a built in stopper for preservation. HOST’s instant aerator enhances any wine by softening tannins and releasing flavor. They wanted each glass to be perfectly decanted and it can be decanted to your liking. If you are looking for a heavy aeration, steeply tilt the bottle 45-90 degrees. For a medium aeration, moderately tilt the bottle 30-60 degrees. For a mild aeration, use a shallow tilt of the bottle 0-45 degrees.
These items were a huge hit at our little shindig and would make awesome host gifts (no pun intended!) or gifts for any wine lover out there. Be sure to check out all the other HOST products for the wine lover in your life!
