It’s no surprise that I am a huge wine lover. Reds, whites, sparkling’s – you name it, I’ve tried and probably enjoyed to the fullest. So when the guys at Thumbs Up Wine contacted me to review their iPhone app I jumped at the chance.
Now picture this…You are standing in the wine aisle of your local grocery store, staring at this wall of wine:

You are trying to figure out which wine to get for dinner tonight. Whether it’s for you or a gift, you end up standing there for a good 12 minutes reading every.single.label at least twice then getting frustrated and grabbing the same bottle you usually buy, the cheapest one on the shelf, or the bottle with the label that appeals to you the most. You may not even know if its good or not. I have done this almost every time I’ve had to buy wine and it’s just down right frustrating. I always say I will do my research for the next time, but that’s just an empty prophecy.
With Thumbs Up WineFinder, that wall-o-wine ain’t so intimidating! All you have to do is pull up the app, either search store specific, browse the wines that have the Thumbs Up WineFinder approval or check your ‘My Wine’ setting that stores all your faves and you will find exactly what you need. Essentially, the app was created to help the consumer navigate through the massive shelves of your local grocer and warehouse clubs to help find you the best bottle of wine for your money. Thumbs Up WineFinder breaks it down for all occasions, tastes, foods and budgets depending on what store you are in – genius!
Now, this is my kinda app. Easy to use, reviews on every wine in the store you are in and even funny videos to keep you informed on the latest, greatest (and not so greatest) and every/any wine tips you can imagine right at your fingers. Thumbs Up WineFinder even gives you opinions on food pairings and pricing of each bottle they have in their database.
I’ve checked out a few of their videos, and the founders of Thumbs Up WineFinder, Matt Eshoo & Joe Gaspardone are the stars of them and I’ve got to tell you, these 2 guys are hysterical. Makes you want to go drink some wine with them! Both extremely knowledgeable on wine and their passion for it really shines through. Their goal was to make it easy for wine buyers to find the very best wines in the stores they most frequently shop and they professionally reviewed hundreds of wines each month from different retailers to pass it on to you, the consumer. Tough job, I tell yah!

Being an Italian-American, I have grown up with wine always around me, so when I showed this app to my dad and uncles, who are always looking for the next great bottle of wine, they loved it too. Clearly the wine grape doesn’t fall far from the vine.
