While on a trip a couple months ago, I forgot to pack quite a few things. Typical. Your head gets effed when you have to pack 1 toddler, an infant, big kid husband and yourself. So a few essentials were left back in sunny Florida, including my MAC Studio Fix foundation powder. I know, I know – you are wondering how I was even able to walk out the door without my face on. It wasn’t pretty, believe you me. I just didn’t have the opportunity to get to a MAC counter in the time I had, so I had to get the next best thing.
Enter Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder.
It covered my skin so nicely, just like the Studio Fix does. Best part about it, the $4.99 price tag. Don’t get me wrong, I love me all things MAC, but when all you have is a drug store, you make do with what they have.
So let me break it down for you –
Pro’s:
- It goes on extremely easy and doesn’t leave a thick layer of makeup on your face.
- It lasts all day long, even in the hot weather.
- Blends great on your skin.
- Great coverage for under eyes.
Con’s:
- Packaging is a bit flimsy.
So far only one con. I’m all about packaging and I typically like my makeup in a more sturdier casing. I have a tendency to be butterfingers and usually drop at least one of my shadows a day, so having something that won’t shatter the second that happens is a plus for me. I have already dropped the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder and cracked the cover. I keep having to remind myself that it was only $4.99. As long as it does its job, it really shouldn’t matter to me what it comes in. You can also choose from 8 different shades:
- Silky Beige 005
- Sandstorm 004
- Transparent 001
- Natural
- Buff Beige
- Creamy Beige
- Creamy Natural
- Nude Beige
Although some stores might have limited quantities of each color, so be sure to check which one you want before.
So the conclusion –
Great alternative. I actually still can’t find my Studio Fix, don’t know where the damn thing is, so I have been using it as my numero uno foundation and I’m extremely happy.
