Sweet Tea Pork Cutlet Sandwich Recipe

When my husband has a recipe in his head to make, there is no stopping him until he makes it. He will literally think of something that morning then by 4 p.m. he is running out the door to get the necessary ingredients. He’s an impulsive gotta-do-it-now kind of person. The kind of person that will wake up one morning, get it in his head that he wants a new car, go to the dealership, find one and buy it by the time it’s dark. If only he got the impulse in his head that I need a whole new wardrobe. A night off in the kitchen is always a welcomed vacation and when he described that he wanted to make sweet tea pork cutlet sandwiches with the pork I recently bought from our local Italian market, my salivary glands went into overdrive.

Sweet Tea Pork Cutlet Sandwich Recipe

  • 16 oz Sweet Iced Tea
  • 3-4 thin Pork Cutlets
  • 2-3 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 cup All Purpose Flour
  • 1/4 cup Corn Meal
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper
  • 3-4 Kaiser Rolls
  • Tomato slices
  • Lettuce

In a Tupperware container or plastic Ziploc bag (make sure it doesn’t leak!), add pork cutlets and pour the sweet iced tea over them. Make sure the tea is covering all the meat. Refrigerate for 24 hours.

After the pork cutlets have been brining/marinating over night, take a shallow dish and mix the flour, cornmeal and spices together. Coat the pork cutlets with the breading mixture and shake off remainder.

In a large frying pan, heat the oil over medium high heat. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until the breading begins to turn golden brown. You want them to be nice and crunchy. Reserve on a plate covered with paper towel.

Take your rolls and begin making your sandwich! My husband whipped up some spicy mayo for his – simply mix together mayo, hot sauce, salt, and a small squirt of spicy deli mustard. Sounds weird, but he loved it! I’m a plain jane and stuck with lettuce, tomato, regular mayo and spiced it up with some Georgia Peach Hot Sauce. If you haven’t tried this stuff, it’s the perfect amount of sweet and spicy!

The cutlets have a really sweet taste to them from the tea and cornmeal. They were so good! We are adding this to the family cookbook. Pair this with a nice John Daly cocktail and you got yourself a nice dinner, or lunch – and yes, we drink at both.
