You may be thinking, “She threw another Sofia the First party?!” I sure did! With a house full of princess-obsessed girls, it was bound to happen again. Especially when the awesome folks at HouseParty.com selected us to host one of their fabulous Disney Jr. Sofia the First Parties for the premiere of the newest installment of our favorite show, Sofia the First: The Curse of Princess Ivy.
My girls would get so excited with every preview they saw on Disney Jr. and I am not going to lie, my husband and I were just as excited. We have grown to love this show and all the fun characters and great songs. We could not wait to get planning on this awesomely princess of a party! HouseParty.com sent us a giant box full of party essentials like crowns & tiaras, decorations, activities and recipes. We invited our friends to join in the fun and we couldn’t wait for the big day!
We decorated the house with Sofia the First posters and princess things like crowns and tiaras. In fact, one poster is still hanging in my house because the girls won’t let us take it down! My girls could not wait for the fun to begin. Once our royal guests arrived, we began the festivities with some fun activities. HouseParty supplied us with such fun things to do like decorate placemats of Enchancia with stickers and color butterflies. They suggested we make hair bows with them, but opted out since we had some boys in the mix!
I made some yummy snacks and treats to munch on before and during the show. Everyone loved the Royal Popcorn, Butterfly Finger Sandwiches, fruit cups and Marshmallow Amulets! They were a hit and not just with the kids. I think I ate 5 myself – what can I say, I’m a sucker for Rice Krispies Treats.
Sofia the First: The Curse of Princess Ivy was great, as we expected and loved seeing new, fun characters like Bernie the Dragon, and the acapella, fire breathing quartet, Smoke Wings & Fire! The whole gang was so excited to see Rapunzel and how Amber learned a hard lesson in stealing and then owning up to her misdeed. I kid you not, we loved it so much that we have watched it almost 20 times since the premiere! Yes, we are that obsessed!
I highly suggest you sign up with HouseParty.com to host a future party! They have tons of fun house party themes for you to apply for like Girls Nights, Beer Nights, Game Nights and kid-themed parties. Just head on over to their site, sign up and start applying!
We can’t wait for the next fun family House Party and hope to throw tons more! But first, I have to share with you our yummy Sofia the First themed snacks we enjoyed. Your kids (and kids at heart!) will love them and they are even great to make when you are just watching a Sofia the First rerun.
Royal Popcorn
- Skinny Pop White Cheddar Popcorn
- Sensible Portions Veggie Straws Ranch Flavor
Just mix both together for a fun, royal treat for your little prince and princesses. Put in cups or baggies for everyone to enjoy their own or keep in a big bowl.
Butterfly Finger Sandwiches
- Slice Bread
- Cream Cheese
- Cucumber Slices, very thin
- Strawberry Jelly, seedless
Simply take each slice of bread and use a butterfly cookie cutter to cut them out. Spread cream cheese on them and add either jelly, slices of cucumber or leave plain. We made a few of all three in case some people didn’t like jelly or cucumbers. They were perfect bites! If you don’t have a butterfly cookie cutter, you could use hearts, stars or cut triangles.
Marshmallow Amulets
- Rice Krispies
- Marshmallows
- Butter
- Purple Sprinkles
- Small Heart Cookie Cutter
Make Rice Krispie Treats according to the box. Spread on a large sheet of wax paper to let cool. Take heart cookie cutter and start making hearts. Gently push the tops of the heart together to create a tear-drop shape. Sprinkle with purple sprinkles.
