Here at The Anti Mom Blog, I am always preaching about parent’s – especially moms – making time for themselves. Whether it’s an hour or just 5 minutes, a little “me” time goes a long way. After I put the girls to bed, I typically go enjoy a nice, hot, LONG shower then watch an episode of The Real Housewives of whatever or another guilty pleasure T.V. show. Go ahead, judge away, but you know you can’t resist all that drama either!
So, I was extremely excited when Fatima over at Motherhood Through My Eyes contacted be about being apart of The Love Yourself Movement. Basically, The Love Yourself Movement is to help all women – mom’s in particular – to love themselves. This movement wants us all to remember that we must love ourselves in order to love, care and support the others around us.
I know there are days when you feel not so great. Crappy, if you will. The days that revolve around shuttling your kids to school, practices, play dates and activities. Then racing back to start dinner, help with homework, clean the house and wash & fold the laundry. Those days when you feel like you need a body double just to make it to 5 o’clock. You all know those days I’m talking about! Where it ends with you at the bottom of an empty wine bottle. (Or is that just me?!)
Yeah, those days come around more than I’d like to admit. I feel like a total mess, running myself ragged. I know there are going to be days that are more chaotic than others, but as a parent, you beat yourself up if you drop the ball on any of your daily tasks. I know I do. The Love Yourself Movement came knocking on my door at the right time because I was on the brink of a total breakdown. Hating the way I look, feeling like I wasn’t fulfilling my motherly & wifely duties. I needed a slap in the face to wake me up and that’s what the Love Yourself Movement has done. Mama’s, we have to make some time for our selves every.single.day. We spend majority of our days doing things for others that we must remember we need to do for ourselves. Just know it’s cool if we don’t fold the laundry right after it gets out of the dryer. That we are still rock stars if we have a total kitchen fail and end up eating cereal for dinner. That you are a bad ass even if you are wearing yesterday’s yoga pants and your hair in a messy mom bun. We just need to remember to make time for you so that you can be more alert for everyone else that is relying on your help.
If you need a reminder of just how fabulous you are, how about sporting this shirt when you are feeling not-so-lovey about yourself? MTMEShop is selling these adorable shirts to help remind you to <3 Yourself. Can’t wait to get mine! These simple words can go such a long way, especially on those days I was talking about. Sometimes, we need to put ourselves ahead of everyone; for the sake of your family, your friends, your sanity and most importantly, for you.
How are you going to Love Yourself?
