West Side Story is one of the forever classics that will leave you singing for days and wishing you could solve all of life’s problems with snappy choreographed dance. The Anti Mom Blog was lucky enough to spend an evening under the stars viewing this classic film while listening to each song be played by an extremely talented orchestra. Thanks to the Festival of the Arts Boca, hundreds of movie-goers flocked to help kick off their 8th annual fest with this spectacular event.
This was the first time I actually watched this movie (I know, I know!) but my husband wouldn’t let me miss it, as it is his all time favorite. I think I saw a high school production back in the day, so I wasn’t a stranger to the songs. With a glass of wine in hand, a breezy warm night and the most extraordinary orchestra you will ever hear, we watched as Tony & Maria fell in love and the Sharks & Jets feud build. It was such a great change up to our typical date night!
I’ll be honest, I wasn’t sure how they were going to pull of coordinating a live orchestra with the projected movie, so when I saw it all come together, it blew me away! There is something about a live orchestra that takes what your doing to a different level and I am so happy that my first time seeing the movie was at the Festival of the Arts Boca! I watched majority of the audience bouncing to the music and singing along with their favorite songs. You could tell just how special this film is to people and brings you to a very happy place!
The Festival of the Arts Boca has brought a unique lineup of events to Palm Beach county with such headliners like Bella Fleck, Abigail Washburn, International Stars of Ballet, Clive Thompson, Young People’s Chorus of New York and much more. I can not suggest visiting the festival more, so be sure to stop by and catch a show – there are still tons of great talent to see!
