The Boca Bacchanalia 2015

The Boca Bacchanalia 2015

The husband and I got all dressed up and rubbed elbows with some of the areas most fancy and fabulous people. The Boca Bacchanalia was the kickoff event for Boca Raton’s hottest food and wine weekend, The Boca Bacchanal. The weekend brings a unique twist to your typical food and wine fest’s by bringing together some of the world’s greatest chef’s and vintners to create intimate evenings that would knock any foodies socks off. These Vintner Dinner’s are at different locations around Boca Raton, located at private unique residences.

But the real star of the weekend is The Bacchanalia! The Boca Raton Historic Society decked out the Atlantic Hangar at the Boca Raton Executive Airport for a night of food, wine, fashion & fun. There were private jets, Ferrari’s, aerial acrobatics and rain. Of course the weather gods were not on our side that night because the skies opened up and it poured on and off all night. The in-climate weather did not stop the party! Over 140 different wines were poured, tons of food samplings from local restaurants were being passed out, silent auctions and even some high end fashion courtesy of Saks Fifth Avenue.

vino, stone crabs, NYY steak & oh so much more!

I love checking out food and wine festivals for the sole purpose of finding new restaurants and wines to enjoy. We found ourselves going back to Merlino’s & Truchard Vineyards tables quite a bit! Merlino’s is located in Boca Raton, near Mizner Park and we never even knew it! They served up a delectable pasta dish that left us weak in the knees. I kid you not! Fiocchi Quattro Formaggi: pear stuffed pasta purses in a four cheese sauce – blue cheese, goat cheese, mozzarella and parmegano. Talk about sinfully delicious! The sweetness of the pear is balanced out by the four cheese sauce and it will totally melt in your mouth.

Lets not forget about the wine. OH the sweet, delicious wine. Every where you turned there were bottles upon bottles of wine all for you tasting pleasure. Truchard Vineyards was one of the tables we just kept returning to and rightfully so, it was delicious! I guess since our Napa trip we have become quite the California wine-lovers and this pleased our palates. Already adding this winery to our list to visit next trip!

KLG baby!

With the wine and food flowing, can’t forget the main reason why this was all happening: The Boca Raton Historical Society & Museum. The money raised during the Boca Bacchanalia from the silent auction, ticket sales and donations are all benefiting the wonderful historical society. It makes these events that much more amazing as they give back to the community. Best part of the night (excluding all the delicious food and wine, of course!) we got to meet Kathie Lee Gifford and taste her newest baby, Gifft Wine. I have been watching Kathie Lee ever since her and Reeg were the dynamic duo of morning T.V. back in the 90’s. It was great to see her expanding her empire to wine!

An amazing event for an even more amazing cause – Thanks to Local Mom Scoop for giving us the opportunity to enjoy this wonderful evening!
