Leftover Chicken Chop-Chop

0

I always try to mix things up when I have leftover roasted chicken in the fridge. Back when I was in college I worked at a place called Ciccio & Tony’s (the best place ever – wish it wasn’t only in Tampa!!) where they added “Chop-chop’s” to the menu. They are pretty much like what Chicken Kitchen or Offerdahl’s offer, but a million times better. So I started making my own versions of these chop-chops with any leftovers I have. All you need is some rice (I prefer yellow but white, brown, jasmine work), salad, some type of dressing and…

Meatless Fridays – Pasta

0

Now that its lent, for the next 9 Fridays, no meat! I have been searching for fish and vegetarian dishes to try out and can’t wait. Who knew I’d be so excited over not being able to have meat. Last Friday I was craving pasta. Nothing fancy, just a simple marinara sauce. MMMM! My husband gets mad at me because I refuse to keep any jarred pasta sauce in the house. It’s one of my weird house rules that MUST be followed. Its way too easy to whip up your own marinara sauce with some fresh ingredients than just popping…

Steakhouse Quality Soup & Salad

0

Not to toot my own or horn or anything but my Valentine’s meal to my husband was probably one of the best meals I have ever made. Normally when I cook a big meal, I tend to not eat as much. I guess it’s some kind of psychological thing since I usually slave all day cooking it, who knows. But I went to town on that shit. Seconds and thirds type shit! Again, not tooting my own horn, but beep-motha-effin-beep!! It really was like going to a steakhouse. Well, minus the $300 bill. Not sure why I haven’t attempted this…

40 Days 40 Nights

0

Today starts Lent! Whoohoo! I look forward this time of year for many reasons. Love Easter and all that comes with it, Spring time, warm(er) weather, self-change and of course, my birthday. 😉 On Ash Wednesday, I usually end up giving up sweets/sugar. This year I thought about changing things and giving up wine for 40 days. JUST KIDDING! HA! Never giving up my wine…. So sugar it is! No sugar for the next 40 days and that means soda, candy, chocolate, ice cream, and anything else that has sugar in it! I of course will eat fruit, but that’s…

Steakhouse Creamed Spinach

Steakhouse Creamed Spinach

I love side dishes. Sometimes I could just eat an entire meal of side dishes. When it’s the holidays, side dishes are pretty much all I eat. They are my favorite. I love making them, I love eating them and most of all I looooove having them as leftovers. The other night I tried out new side dish and it was off the hook. I was trying to be all romantical and make my husband a homemade steakhouse-type dinner: clam chowder, wedge salad, surf & turf and creamed spinach. I know, I’m fancy. Now, I never really enjoyed creamed spinach,…

Chocolatey Bouquet For Valentine’s Day

0

If you are a procrastinator like I am, you waited till the very last minutes to do something sweet for your loved one. Well don’t worry, I have a quick gift idea to wow your Valentine….and all you need is about $7, 25 minutes, a trip to your grocery store and a microwave. My valentine complains he needs to eat “healthy”, so I had to throw my cookie idea out the window. Instead – chocolate covered strawberries! Hey-they are healthy, especially if you use dark chocolate! So here’s what you’ll need: At the grocery store, they sell dipping chocolate that…

Hustle Like A Girl Scout

0

No joke, these chicks are EVERY WHERE! I go to the grocery store, there they are. I go to the doctors office, there they are. I go out to eat, whattayah know, they are there, posted up right by the entrance. To every store in the entire world. Waiting, lurking with their cute little smiles and overly zealous parent chaperon. I go to great lengths to avoid these girls. But I got sucked into their web of lies and bought a box of Thin Mints. So today, my husbands friend and I were shopping and about 3 little scouts were…

Super Bowl Extravaganza

0

It’s the start of Suu-Suuuu-Suuuuper Bowl weekend baby! And my Giants are in it……again! That’s what I’m talkin’ bout! There is only one way to watch this game, and it’s with a party. A massive one at that. I love a good party, sometimes they can be a pain in the ass to throw because, lets be honest, cleaning up all that shit suuuuucks! But when its all said and done, I really do have a great time hosting shindigs. Parties should always have 3 great things: great food, great drinks and a great crowd. If you have that, then…

South Florida’s Newest NY Deli – Zinger’s!

0

I recently dined, or should I say stuffed my face, at a new deli around the corner from my house in Boca Raton, Zinger’s Delicatessen. As I walked into the sleek, modern deli, I was greeted very warmly by the staff and then began floating to my table on the delicious aroma that filled the air. Deli food is probably one of my top 5 favorite foods of all time, so hearing that Zinger’s makes practically EVERYTHING from scratch, I couldn’t wait to indulge. I began my decadent meal with a deli staple, matzoh ball soup. The matzoh ball was…

Chicken Paranoia

0

Thanks to numerous spells of food poisoning, I have become extremely paranoid when eating and cooking chicken. It has become so bad that I have avoided favorite restaurant spots and cooking certain recipes because they remind me of the horribleness that I once endured. Sometimes I think my eyes do tricks on me and I see pink when I cut into a nice, juicy piece of chicken. It may be cooked perfectly, but my freakish mind immediately thinks the worst and I push it away. To be frank, it SUCKS! I have to live in such fear that every piece…
